The X-Factor Weekend Roundup!

xfactor_wThe remaining six contestants sang songs relating to Wham and George Michael this weekend. We saw some strong performances particularly from Lloyd, who seemed to benefit from this music style.

Just about all of the contestants did a superb performance, and John Edward, well, they were entertaining, and their singing however was a whole different ballgame.

Dermot took the opportunity to get back at Louis for a previous weeks confrontation, rather humorously calling him ‘Mr Yaffle’ who those of a certain age will remember is the woodpecker from the Bagpuss series. I must Louis really fits the bill quite well for that analogy!

It’s at this stage in the competition that we normally see the strength of singing beginning to improve and certainly this seemed to be the case on Saturday night.

On the Sunday evening results show we had live performances from Mariah Carey who I’ve seen perform better, and an emotional performance from Susan Boyle.

Viewers saw a shocked Simon as Olly was one of the bottom two along with twins John and Edward. It seemed obvious that this was the week that the twins would go.

Dannii must have given Simon palpitations when she questioned “am I voting for the singing or the entertainment factor” when it came down to her deciding vote. Simon seemed to make out he didn’t understand what she was talking about, whispering to Cheryl.

I think what can be read from Dannii’s question is that when Simon had the decisive vote two weeks ago between Lucy (a strong singer and show favourite) and John & Edward he chose John and Edward to force a split decision. This meant that the decision was put back to the public vote and Lucy lost.

Dannii in my opinion was making a point that she had same scenario in hand! That is, that she could have chosen John and Edward to again force a split decision and therefore the possibility that the public would have voted the twins higher than Olly. This however isn’t Dannii’s style and she made the right choice to turn the show back to what it’s famous for, a talent singing show, voting off John and Edward.

I don’t think that this is the last we will have seen of these two young men from Ireland, who I have to say can’t thing for toffee but do have the entertainment factor.
